Family Tree

Yesterday I was telling someone that we had 3 Thanksgiving meals to attend and she marveled at that quantity. I explained that when your family tree looks more like a bush this is what you end up with.

The older that I get the more appreciative I become of these things I once took for granted, especially family. In college I took it all for granted and now it is the most precious gift in my life. Being with family is what I look forward to all year long whether at Easter lunch, Fourth of July at the lake, birthday parties, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. Any reason to have my big fat family together is something worth celebrating! Having Emerson really created this new appreciation. As a child some of my fondest memories were holidays spent with my cousins. All of the parents would play Trivial Pursuit and drink too much while we were off getting into trouble - never anything serious just things that otherwise we would not be allowed to do! Minus the Trivial Pursuit, and perhaps the whiskey and cokes (no promises), I am looking forward to Emerson having all of those memories with her cousins as well.

Whether your family lineage looks like a tree or a bush, I hope all of you get the opportunity to spend time with your loved ones as well. Family truly is one of the greatest blessings God can give us! I look forward to m any years with our family as it grows.
