Over due update

Food:
Well we have tried many solids now and Emerson seems to be doing very well with all of them! Sunday she had bananas for breakfast, turkey vegetable dinner & peas for lunch, sweet potatoes for a late afternoon snack and turkey vegetable dinner for dinner. She spit up a lot after the sweet potatoes, I guess the large variety of food that she had eaten over the course of the day did not agree with her.

Developments:
She has started to crawl and is trying to pull up. As a result we have built her very own "Gated Community". Normally these are designed to keep out "undesirables" but instead we are keeping a very desirable little girl in sight. She is all over the place. We now have 1/2 of our bonus room blocked off & devoted to the princess! All of her toys are in one place - it looks so fun but from time to time she will get bored and sometimes she plays so hard she falls asleep. Thank you Lucas for the GREAT idea - I love my community! Teh funny thing abotu these 3 pictures is that they were taken on 2 differnt days but she is wearign the same outfit... It is one of my favorites!

The rest of the Lane Family:
Chris' practice is doing well, GSK is treating me well and we have joined a new church! Our plan is to get really involved in the church, meet a lot of people and grow some roots within the community! Emerson always goes with us, we do not take her to the nursery typically she sleeps but not this past 2 weekends - she talked the whole way through. It was very cute, at least she was not fussing!

Social:
We all went to the Main Street Festival and had a really good time - there were lots of vendors, entertainment & great weather! Attached is a picture of Emerson displaying her "fang".

Celebrity Home Tour

Ok, so it's hardly a "tour" but I felt pretty cool knowing that Leigh Anne Rimes will be living within walking distance to me. On Thursday me & 2 girlfriends walked UPHILL with strollers for about 2 miles to see this home. It is beautiful and has a GREAT view.... The pictures were taken with my cell phone so they are not great but you get teh gist. I also attached a pic of the lil princess, lately she has been wrinking her nose and it is ADORABLE. Apparently I do this also but I know that I am not this cute when I do it!!!

Like mother, like daughter

Here is a picture of me & my mom when I was six & 1/2 months old. Although we tried to duplicate this picture I do not look nearly as fabulous as my mama!!! The picture is very dark but I think Emerson looks a lot like her mama!!!

Progress report

As mentioned in an earlier post I have been sewing dresses for Emerson. This project started at the end of February, here it is the beginning of April and they are still in the "construction" phase!! I have attached the pictures of all the dresses that have been cut out, I hope to have them complete by the end of May! Yesterday, Emily helped me a ton and we got a lot accomplished!

Fun Weekend

This weekend was so perfect, Emerson napped each day, ate well, slept through the night and was in a fun mood!!! Saturday we went to our first birthday party. Lyla turned 2!! Lyla's daddy, Mark, is a good friend of Chris' from college and they live really close as well. Lyla will be receiving the "mother" of all birthday presents very soon.............A BABY BROTHER!! The party was so much fun, so many cute, cute kids and lots of cake and ice cream!!

Today we tried another church, a catholic church downtown. It is a very pretty church and overall we enjoyed but we are still deciding. Thus far our favorite is the Methodist church, which is also in historic downtown but I am having a very hard time letting go of my Catholic roots but I think we are working on a compromise! After church we went to lunch, then walking around downtown. It is so nice with lots to see and do plus great shopping! After we got home Chris & I took turns napping!!

After our naps we walked to the grocery store for batteries but that excursion turned into much more than just batteries! On the way home we were able to play the ipod through the speakers on Emerson's stroller - that is so cool! (Thank you Aunt Cindy & Uncle Kim). At first we played Emerson's kiddie songs, which was hilarious but also a bit embarrassing. We sounded like the ice cream truck!

On the food front! Emerson started pears yesterday - this is her first fruit! The reason we started this particular fruit first is b/c it was on sale! ha ha.. frugal mommy!

Lastly but not least we had visitors on Friday night! Michael & Whitney came to visit us from Ohio! This is the first visit from friends that we met while in St. Louis. It was fun catching up, reminiscing about old times and how EVERYTHING is so different now. While they were here Michael was playing with Emerson and not knowing her abilities he sat her up rather than laying her on the floor - like we do and to my surprise she sat up! Sitting up is not something that happens over night and I realized that she is now capable of sitting without support, I have been depriving the opportunity to show off her new skills! Thank you Michael for the revelation!!!

Daddy knows best.............sometimes

Earlier this week Emerson had been unusually fussy!! We never rush to over medicate her simply to silence her pain, especially when we do not know the catalyst of the pain and if there is no fever or bacterial infections antibiotics are not the answer either, therefore in an attempt to alleviate this fussiness Daddy did what he knows best...... he adjusted Emerson Wednesday and it WORKED. Thursday she woke up a NEW baby! Now in these pictures she looks as if she does no wrong but trust me she has had a rough week, I think she just enjoys being adjusted especially when it is done by Daddy!!! In the top picture Daddy is conducting a scan to look for subluxations and in the bottom two he is actually adjusting her cervicals (these are located in her neck).... SHE LOVES IT!!!

Now this post is NOT meant to serve as an advertisement for chiropractic care but rather a friendly tip!! Prior to Chris' chiropractic excursion I would have never known about the chiropractic role in pediatrics but many parents will agree that this alternate care has been a lifesaver. Chiropractic care remedies everything from colic to bed wetting and many illnesses/issues in between and it is all done without medication, which is great. Why would you want to medicate these little guys especially with all the bad publicity around cough syrups and drug recalls.
