So here it is, McCall's birthday story!! Em did her usual and woke up at 5:30 am this morning at that time I noticed I was having some contractions. I was in denial b/c I had been having braxton hicks and mild contractions for weeks now and did not want to cry "wolf" if this were a false alarm - I wanted to be sure beyond a shadow of a doubt not to mention having a babywas not on this weeks agenda - that was NEXT week!!! At 6:30 the contractions went from 10 min apart to 3 min apart - YOUCH! At this point I knew this was the real deal and was not in my head, SOMETHING was going on!! The very confusing part I had NO signs/symptoms other than contractions and really wanted to be sure I was in labor before I made arrangements for Em, had Chris cancel appointments and drove all the way to hospital 30 minutes away!!!! I KNEW it was for real when out of nowhere I became VERY emotional!!! I also did this with Em when I was about 7 cm dilated but no way was I already that far along............so I thought!
Chris got Em to school and we were on the road to the hospital at 7:20, thank GOD that there were no traffic issues, we arrived at 7:50 am and upon a very painful assessment of my cervix we learned that I was 9cm dilated! WHAT????? How can this be at my last appointment (1 week ago) I was only 1 cm!!! Immediately the staff started making arrangements and we had a baby girl at 8:24 am - yep, only 34 min later. NO epidural, IV, or ANYTHING just a quick delivery! I feel great now and baby McCall is BEAUTIFUL, healthy and looks a lot like Emerson! She weighs 8 lbs and .25 oz, 20 inches. She has a head full of jet black hair and at times it is curly! Thus far she is a very sweet baby girl who likes to eat and sleep!
Last night Emerson met her and was interested for about 15 seconds then found herself far more intrigued with my water filled styrofoam cups! GranMollie is staying with her and they are having a good time. She slept all night in her big girl bed by herself. We are so proud of her, now if we could only get her to sleep past 5:30 am but thank GOD that she woke so early on June 18, otherwise McCall could have been a home birth!!
